Pulmonary ultrasound has recently entered clinical practice for the differential diagnosis of acute dyspnea in the emergency department:

- Method immediately available even at the bedside

-Speed of execution without the need for the patient to maintain posture for a long time

-Possibility of performing even during the physical examination

-No need for patient transport to radiology services

- Immediate interpretation of results based on the clinical question

Some studies, conducted on adult patients in the emergency room and in intensive care, have shown that this technique has a diagnostic accuracy superior to x-ray.
