For biopsies, the "new" advantages are:

- The operating field is more definitely sterile, the probe slips into the "palm" of a sterile operating room glove, the absence of wires reduces the risk that the cable of an ultrasound probe (not sterilizable) interferes with the sterile field , portability etc.

- An additional use, in addition to the patient's bed or on an ambulance, also in the operating room or in a clean clinic to make co-guided biopsies, there are tracer needles (visible to the echo) that allow biopsy without additional expensive accessories.
