Anaesthesia

The Basel Plus wi-fi ultrasound probes are color doppler and can be dual-headed (linear / convex), they provide exceptional nerve resolution using advanced techniques such as composite imaging. Plus, they eliminate the cord hassle, allowing for zero impact, providing optional needle guide technology, and allow you to get activated and running in seconds.

They allow you to easily identify the main vascular/nerve bundles, nerve plexuses and the most important nerves. For example to perform interscalene block, supraclavicular block, subclavicular block, axillary block, peripheral nerve blocks;

Treatment for operations on the upper and lower limbs or ultrasound-guided therapeutic analgesic treatments. (cortisone, ozone, painkillers, anesthetics, anti-inflammatories ...).

Basel Plus probes allow more difficult vascular accesses, to be performed under ultrasound control and in the most difficult patients.

They enable zero impact, provide optional needle guide technology, and are up and running in seconds.

Handy especially for the operating room, as they allow the sterile field through disposable sheaths, in addition to treatments at the patients bed or in the clinic.

The Basel Plus ultrasound probe is also sensitive to slow flows for an adequate study of chronic venous disease in the lower limbs and to fast flows in the arterial area.

The high resolution these probes are equipped with also allows a fine evaluation of the irregularity of the vessel wall and allows the execution under ultrasound guidance of endo vascular interventional procedures (laser, radiofrequency, cyanoacrylate) and sclerotherapy.

Basic medicine

Ultrasound is now an indispensable tool for a more correct and easier diagnosis in general medicine, so much so that it can now be considered what the stethoscope was in the last century. As is well known, in the context of general medicine specialisation courses, a first level / fast ultrasound has been developed in recent years, essential for a correct classification of the patient with symptoms that can be easily identified and diagnosed, such as:

Bladder globe

Renal colic and biliary colic

Globose abdomen / ascites

Gallbladder

Neck swelling

Fatty liver

Splenomegaly / Enlarged spleen

Arterial pressure index

The variety of probes, their lightness and portability, the absence of a cable and the ease of being able to comply with sterility in a simple and fast way without the need to sterilize the probe allows any percutaneous orthopedic treatment to be performed safely and precisely for infiltrations and viscosupplementations of all joints (coxofemoral, shoulder, knee, vertebral column).

Obstetrics & Gynaecology

For biopsies, the "new" advantages are:

- The operating field is more definitely sterile, the probe slips into the "palm" of a sterile operating room glove, the absence of wires reduces the risk that the cable of an ultrasound probe (not sterilizable) interferes with the sterile field , portability etc.

- An additional use, in addition to the patient's bed or on an ambulance, also in the operating room or in a clean clinic to make co-guided biopsies, there are tracer needles (visible to the echo) that allow biopsy without additional expensive accessories.

Pneumology

Pulmonary ultrasound has recently entered clinical practice for the differential diagnosis of acute dyspnea in the emergency department:

- Method immediately available even at the bedside

-Speed of execution without the need for the patient to maintain posture for a long time

-Possibility of performing even during the physical examination

-No need for patient transport to radiology services

- Immediate interpretation of results based on the clinical question

Some studies, conducted on adult patients in the emergency room and in intensive care, have shown that this technique has a diagnostic accuracy superior to x-ray.

PNEUMOLOGIA

Radiology

The ultrasound ultrasound is a great tool that guides the operations.
Traditional laptop ultrasound systems have many features that aren't used, can end up being bulky on carts, and are very expensive. Cables hinder the execution of procedures. Smaller systems usually don't have the performance required to see nerves clearly. Access can also be a problem with large anesthesia groups. The Basel Plus wi-fi ultrasound probes are color doppler and can be dual-headed (linear / convex), provide exceptional nerve resolution using advanced techniques such as composite imaging. Plus, they eliminate the cord hassle, allow for zero impact, provide optional needle guide technology, and get activated and running in seconds.

RADIOLOGIA

Senology

With breast ultrasound it is possible to identify breast cysts , i.e. formations of a benign nature, often with liquid or mixed content, and fibroadenomas . This investigation also makes it possible to diagnose the presence of inflamed tissues (as in the case of mastitis or abscesses ) and is important in the early diagnosis of more serious lesions, such as malignant tumors . Breast ultrasound also allows you to view any changes in the lymph nodes of the axillary cables.
In most cases, breast ultrasound is not an alternative to mammography and the two tests are considered complementary. In breast diagnostics, the ultrasound examination is more suitable for evaluating the dense breast tissues (in which the glandular component is prevalent) of young women, which are not always clearly visible on mammography X-rays.

The importance of ultrasound in sports

We are in the 60th minute of a football match, in the third half of a volleyball match, or in the middle of a 400 metre race. Suddenly an athlete collapses to the ground clutching his thigh or calf, leaves the competition field on a stretcher and where are they taking him?

Surely in an ultrasound clinic, after having made a summary evaluation.

In fact, ultrasound is particularly useful and irreplaceable in the field of sports medicine.

It has established itself for years as a first choice accurate examination technique, in fact it allows to carry out a dynamic investigation at the same time as the clinical examination and competes with the diagnostic capacity of MRI which requires much more complex technology and structures. It also allows the repeated control over time of a muscle lesion and the comparison with previous investigations to evaluate the evolution of the lesion.

As for the sports field, it satisfies a fundamental need if a muscle problem occurs: assess the extent of the problem in order to bring the athlete back to competitions as quickly as possible. It also allows you to immediately identify problems avoiding other more invasive diagnostic procedures and to evaluate injuries in real time, in conditions of rest and even during active muscle contraction. Finally, it also evaluates all other muscle tendon pathologies, both inflammatory and neoplastic.

It should also be emphasised that in recent years it has seen the development of interventional therapeutic techniques. That is, it allows you to guide a needle directly into the site of the lesion with the possibility of introducing a drug or taking biopsy samples. This makes it possible to immediately evaluate the diagnostic response to the administration of a drug, whether it is introduced at the muscle-tendon or intra-articular level.

Finding an available ultrasound machine can be difficult if you have to share it with colleagues. The wireless Basel Plus ultrasound probes are color doppler and can be dual-headed (linear / convex), giving you the flexibility of having a personal ultrasound device to use when you need it. With our high image quality, there's no need to go looking for the traditional bulky cart system.

Veterinary

Ultrasound is of vital importance because of its advantages over other diagnostic tests, such as x-rays or CT scans . It is in fact increasingly included in the diagnostic protocols of various veterinary clinics.

Ultrasound is a simple and non-invasive test, which means that, in most cases, it is not necessary to sedate the animal to perform it.

On the other hand, it is able to provide veterinarians with moving images of the structures studied, managing to differentiate the various types of tissues. In turn, it can be combined with other practices included in various diagnostic tests, such as the use of contrast media or ultrasound-guided injections, for greater precision in determining the alterations present in the animal.

Unlike other diagnostic techniques, ultrasound does not emit ionising radiation that could produce adverse biological effects and endanger the animal's life. For owners of patients who come to the clinic, ultrasound is an economical and safe technique, both for the animal and for the operators who perform it.
